Does thyroid affect lips?

From: monica73 - 3 years 3 days ago

I have hypothyroidism. I am having issues with my lips. Not dry or chapped, but more like swollen and irritated. They feel like sand patches. They look normal, other than the swollen corners, but some mornings I wake up feeling like someone punched me in the mouth. My upper lip is really affected.

I am also feeling discomfort in my neck area, all the way to my shoulder blades. Sometimes it affects my ability to turn my head or lift my arms above my head, when there is irritation.

Does this sound like the thyroid is the culprit? I read the thyroid and lips are on the same vein. HELP!

Is this good advice?

I know this is a late reply but I too have pains & stiffness in my neck for the past few years and reading your comment realize that it may well be due to the Hashimotos that I was diagnosed with 3 years ago. Also have that feeling in my lips you mentioned but didn't take any notice until you mentioned. After being put on Levo, have been constantly tired with brain fog and weight gain.
