Meeting Highlights from 84th Annual Meeting of the American Thyroid Association

October 29-November 2, 2014
Hotel Del Coronado Coronado, CA

The 84th Annual Meeting of the American Thyroid Association (ATA) was held on Coronado, a charming island respite across the bay from San Diego, California. The Hotel Del Coronado was built in 1888 by Elisha Babock and H.L. Story, both tycoons who originally visited the penninsula to hunt rabbits. The Hotel Del is known for many things, including the famous people who have visited the esteemed resort, and its reported ghostly resident, Kate Morgan.

Throughout the ATA meeting, various day and evening programs provided exceptional educational and networking opportunities for new physicians just starting their careers in thyroidology, established endocrinologists and thyroidologists, thyroid surgeons, ultrasonographers, and other diagnostic specialists. Furthermore, many researchers and scientists presented posters and were available to discuss their latest studies and findings.

The meeting would not have been complete without recognizing leaders in the field of thyroidology.

  • Gilbert Daniels, MD was the recipient of the Paul Starr Lectureship Award and was recognized for his research in thyroid cancer treatment.
