Julie Ann Sosa, MD, MA, FACS, chief of endocrine surgery at the Duke University Medical Center, in Durham, North Carolina, focused on the growing concern that exposure to flame retardants may have on increasing the risk of thyroid cancer, and Leonard Wartofsky, MD, MPH, who is chairman of the department of medicine at Georgetown and professor of me who offered insights into the role of thyroglobulin levels in determining the right follow-up treatment strategy for postoperative thyroid cancer surgery.

The American Thyroid Association is the largest professional organization representing medical specialties focused on promoting thyroid health as well as the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of thryoid diseases, including hypothyroid, hyperthyroid, and thyroid cancers and the particular needs of women during pregnancy.
